About

Hi, I’m Gabriela Hofer! I have a PhD in Differential Psychology and currently work as a researcher at the University of Graz. My PhD work revolved around understanding self- and other-perceptions in the context of abilties—essentially, I was (and still am) fascinated by the question, “Who really knows what someone is good at?”
These days, my research interests have expanded to include other topics I’m deeply curious about: sexuality, gender, and interpersonal relationships. Right now, I'm particularly interested in people's beliefs about sexuality, especially when those beliefs stand in conflict with reality (as they do when people believe myths about sexuality). I’m also an advocate for open and reproducible research practices and like to explore how they can not only make science more robust but also more trustworthy in the eye of the public.
Beyond my research, I’m actively involved in collaborative networks like the Feminist Wonderlab (https://feministwonderlabcoll.github.io/feministwonderlab/) and the Graz Open Science Initiative (https://graz-openscience.uni-graz.at/en/), where I get to connect with like-minded individuals who share my enthusiasm for pushing boundaries and fostering inclusivity in science.
